Build guide

Reddit Shadowban Checker

Match supplied copy to its topic and assemble it in this order:

Part 1Page setup

  • Publish at the site’s canonical route for this tool, preferably:
    • /reddit-shadowban-checker/
  • Use the existing site header, footer, navigation, typography, colors, spacing, buttons, cards and form controls.
  • Use a full-width page template without a blog sidebar. Keep the article/tool content within the site’s normal readable-width container.
  • Render all supplied guide content server-side so it is available without JavaScript. Hydrate only the checker.
  • Use exactly one H1. Keep the writer’s headings and wording; do not rename sections to match this guide.
  • If breadcrumbs are standard on the site, include them above the H1.

Part 2Required page order

  1. H1, introductory line and checker
  2. How the checker works, safety and limitations
  3. Manual confirmation methods
  4. Shadowban definition and comparison with other restrictions
  5. Causes and prevention
  6. Duration and appeal instructions
  7. Checking or buying several accounts
  8. Closing action band

Do not add a table of contents, FAQ section, sidebar promotion, sticky promotion or unrelated product sections.

Part 3Checker interface

Place the checker immediately below the H1 and its single introductory line. Give its wrapper the anchor:

id="checker"

Use a prominent version of the site’s normal card component. It should contain, in order:

  1. Card heading
  2. Visible label for the input
  3. Multiline textarea
  4. Helper text
  5. Primary Check button
  6. Results region
  7. Small method/limitations note

Input

Use a textarea rather than separate fields.

  • Show approximately 6 rows initially.
  • Accept one username per line.
  • Accept usernames with or without u/; also accept /u/.
  • Ignore blank lines and surrounding spaces.
  • Remove duplicate usernames case-insensitively while preserving first-entry order.
  • Validate against Reddit’s username form: 3–20 characters using letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens.
  • Limit each run to 50 unique usernames.
  • Do not silently truncate entries over the limit. Show an inline error and leave the textarea intact.
  • Do not place usernames in the URL, query string, cookies or local storage.
  • Do not run a check automatically on page load.

The helper text must make the one-name-per-line behavior and no-login requirement visible before submission.

Submission behavior

  • Disable submission when the textarea is empty.
  • While checking, disable the button and show a loading label.
  • Preserve the entered list after completion so the user can correct or rerun it.
  • Process valid usernames even if another line is invalid. Return an inline invalid status for the bad line.
  • Do not add a CAPTCHA initially. If abuse later requires one, trigger it only after suspicious/repeated use—not on a visitor’s first normal check.

Results layout

Keep the results region hidden until a check starts. Each username gets its own row containing:

  • Normalized username
  • Text status pill
  • Status icon
  • The writer-supplied explanatory sentence

Use these public verdict labels:

  • Visible
  • Shadowbanned or not found
  • Suspended

Also support these operational states without presenting them as Reddit verdicts:

  • Invalid username
  • Unable to check

The statuses must not rely on color alone. Use an icon and visible text. Suitable semantic treatment is:

  • Visible: success/check
  • Shadowbanned or not found: danger or warning/hidden-profile icon
  • Suspended: danger/ban icon
  • Invalid or unavailable: neutral warning icon

For the not-found result, always include the supplied qualification that the account may instead be deleted, misspelled or never registered. Never report a missing public profile as a certain shadowban for an account the visitor does not control.

For bulk results, show a short summary above the rows with totals by status. Do not add export, sharing or account-management controls.

Accessibility

  • Associate the label and helper text with the textarea.
  • Put validation errors next to the field and connect them with aria-describedby.
  • Mark the results wrapper aria-live="polite" and toggle aria-busy while checking.
  • Announce a concise completion summary rather than forcing a screen reader to reread every result.
  • Move focus to the results heading after completion and to the field error after a blocked submission.
  • Maintain visible keyboard focus and the site’s WCAG-compliant color contrast.

Part 4Checker service

Implement the checker through a same-origin server endpoint, not direct browser requests to Reddit.

Recommended endpoint:

POST /api/reddit-shadowban-check
Content-Type: application/json

{
  "usernames": ["example", "example_two"]
}

Recommended response shape:

{
  "results": [
    {
      "input": "u/example",
      "username": "example",
      "status": "visible",
      "checkedAt": "ISO-8601 timestamp"
    }
  ]
}

Allowed internal status values:

visible
not_found
suspended
invalid
unavailable

Upstream test

Check the username’s public Reddit profile as an unauthenticated visitor. Use Reddit’s public profile/about response through the server, with a descriptive service user agent and a fixed Reddit host.

Classification rules:

  • A successful, valid account response:
    • is_suspended: true, or an equivalent explicit public suspension marker → suspended
    • Otherwise → visible
  • A genuine profile-not-found response or HTTP 404 → not_found
  • HTTP 401, 403, 429, Reddit-wide blocking, malformed data, timeout or 5xx → unavailable

Additional requirements:

  • Compare the account name returned by Reddit with the requested name case-insensitively.
  • Do not use Reddit search results as the test.
  • Do not infer an account shadowban from an empty posts or comments list.
  • Do not turn upstream errors into “shadowbanned” results.
  • Use a fixed upstream origin and safely encode the username to prevent SSRF or path injection.
  • Set a reasonable per-profile timeout and process batch checks with limited concurrency.
  • If the site already has a compliant Reddit account-status service, reuse its adapter while retaining the verdict rules above.
  • Never fabricate a result if Reddit cannot be reached.

Abuse controls

Use the site’s existing rate limiter. If none exists, use these defaults:

  • Maximum 5 batch submissions per minute per IP
  • Maximum 500 username lookups per hour per IP
  • Maximum 50 unique usernames per request
  • Return HTTP 429 with Retry-After when limited

Rate limiting may use temporary IP-derived counters, but it must not store the checked usernames.

Privacy and security

The page states that checked usernames are not kept, so implementation must support that claim:

  • Send usernames in a POST body, never a URL.
  • Do not save requests or results to the database.
  • Disable request-body logging and tracing for this endpoint.
  • Do not include usernames in analytics events, error reporting or session-replay data.
  • Mask the textarea and result list in any session-replay product.
  • Return Cache-Control: no-store.
  • Do not retain results in local storage.
  • Render returned usernames as text, never injected HTML.
  • No Reddit login, password or user API key may be requested.

Anonymous aggregate analytics may record:

  • Single versus bulk check
  • Number of entries in a coarse bucket
  • Counts of completed verdict types
  • Upstream failure rate
  • Internal product-link clicks

Part 5Guide content construction

Checker method and trust section

Place this directly beneath the checker card.

  • Use one short paragraph followed by a plain three-item list for the safety points.
  • Do not turn these points into icon cards.
  • Follow with the limitations paragraph and the line explaining that Reddit’s user search is not a valid test.

Manual confirmation section

Use a short lead followed by an ordered list of three checks.

  • Each numbered item may have a short bold label, followed by its paragraph.
  • Keep the single-post visibility test outside the ordered list as a separate paragraph.
  • Display example profile paths such as reddit.com/user/username as inline code where appropriate.

Restriction comparison section

Begin with the supplied definition paragraph. Follow it with a semantic table using these columns:

  1. Situation
  2. What it is
  3. Who applied it
  4. How to tell
  5. Who can fix it

Use exactly these five alternative rows:

  1. Suspension
  2. Subreddit ban
  3. AutoModerator removal
  4. Reddit spam filter on one post
  5. New-account restriction

The shadowban itself is explained immediately above the table and does not need a sixth row.

On small screens, place the table in a horizontally scrollable wrapper while retaining native table markup, headers and captions. Do not replace it with an accordion.

Causes and prevention section

  • Present the triggers as a standard bulleted list.
  • Keep the VPN explanation as its own paragraph after the list.
  • Place the prevention paragraph last.
  • Do not add procedural instructions about vote manipulation or evading Reddit enforcement.

Duration and appeal section

Use the duration text first, then make the appeal material a subsection.

  • Link the official appeal destination to:
    • https://www.reddit.com/appeals
  • Render the appeal process as an ordered list.
  • Render the sample appeal as a <blockquote>, not a code block.
  • Present the “do not make another account” statement as a prominent warning line using the site’s restrained warning/callout component.
  • Do not place a product link or account offer beside the appeal instructions.

External links should follow the site’s usual behavior. If they open a new tab, include rel="noopener noreferrer" and an accessible indication that a new tab opens.

Part 6Multi-account section and product card

Place this near the end, after all help and appeal content.

After the supplied bulk-check paragraph, add one small, neutral product card using the site’s existing card component. It should contain only:

  • The writer-supplied line about the site’s aged Reddit accounts and its actual checking practice
  • One link to the existing aged Reddit accounts destination

Select that destination through the CMS/internal-link picker or reuse the canonical URL already used by the site’s navigation or catalog. Do not invent a new slug or make unsupported checking claims.

Important restrictions:

  • Do not show this card in or near checker results.
  • Do not conditionally show it after a shadowban verdict.
  • Do not describe buying an account as a response to a ban.
  • Do not add product grids, prices, testimonials or additional service promotions.

Part 7Closing band

Use a compact site-standard CTA band with:

  • A primary “check” action that scrolls to #checker
  • A secondary text link to the same aged-account destination used above

When the primary action is activated, smoothly scroll to the checker unless reduced motion is enabled, then move focus to the textarea.

The band requires no additional heading unless the supplied page includes one.

Part 8Visual and responsive treatment

  • The checker must remain the strongest visual element on the page.
  • Use the site’s standard border radius, shadow, field and button treatments.
  • Keep guide sections visually simple; use typography and spacing rather than placing every section in a card.
  • Use the site’s normal vertical section rhythm.
  • Make the primary button full-width on narrow screens and intrinsic-width on larger screens.
  • Stack result-row elements on mobile without hiding the explanatory sentence.
  • Avoid decorative stock imagery, Reddit logos, fake account screenshots and animated backgrounds.
  • Do not imply official Reddit affiliation.

Part 9SEO and structured data

Use any SEO fields explicitly supplied with the written page. If none are supplied, use:

Title

Free Reddit Shadowban Checker: Test Any Username Instantly

Meta description

Check any Reddit username for a shadowban or suspension. Free, instant, no login required, with bulk checks, manual confirmation steps and appeal guidance.

Also:

  • Set a self-referencing canonical URL.
  • Use index,follow.
  • Add the page to the XML sitemap.
  • Use the title and description for Open Graph/Twitter metadata.
  • Do not create indexable URLs for results or entered usernames.
  • Do not add FAQ schema.

Add JSON-LD with the checker as the page’s main entity:

  • WebPage
  • WebApplication
  • Name: Reddit Shadowban Checker
  • applicationCategory: UtilitiesApplication
  • operatingSystem: Any
  • isAccessibleForFree: true
  • Offer price: 0
  • Currency: USD
  • Provider: the site’s existing Organization entity

Use the site’s existing BreadcrumbList schema only if visible breadcrumbs are present. Do not add ratings or review markup.

Part 10Final acceptance checks

Before publishing, verify:

  • The working checker appears before all guide content.
  • Single and bulk inputs both work.
  • u/name, /u/name and name normalize correctly.
  • Visible, suspended and not-found upstream fixtures map to the correct verdict.
  • 403, 429, timeout and 5xx responses show “Unable to check,” not a ban verdict.
  • A not-found result includes the deleted/misspelled caveat.
  • Results and input are absent from URLs, logs and analytics.
  • No login, password or user API key is requested.
  • The checker works by keyboard and announces completion accessibly.
  • The five-row comparison remains usable on mobile.
  • The official appeal link is correct.
  • The product promotion appears only in the multi-account section and closing band.
  • Nothing recommends creating or buying an account to bypass a shadowban.
  • There is no FAQ accordion, unrelated product material or unsupported claim.
  • The guide is server-rendered and usable even if checker JavaScript fails.
